After a long battle with Alzheimers and surrounded by family, Berti passed away peacefully at the Foyer in Sutton on October 31, 2024 at the age of 87. A longtime resident of Cowansville and Sutton, she was predeceased by her first husband, Willi Steiner and by her parents Hans Kunzli and Bertha Egger.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Peter Riordon as well as her children Marina (Scott), Ralph, Ruth (Eamon) and Seann; her grandchildren Emily, Lauren, Kristen, Liam, Kyla and Sahara; and her great grandchildren Bree, Watson, Owen, Jake, Alice and Maya. She will also be dearly missed by her siblings Martha, Klara, Hans (Lisa), Elisabeth (Heinz) and her brother-in-law Spruce (Marsha) as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
The world has lost a remarkable person: an accomplished dairy farmer, master gardener, skilled weaver, knitter and skier. But above all, she was a deeply loved and loving presence in the lives of her family and those who knew her. Her generous warmth, many talents, unshakable strength and boundless spirit will be forever remembered and cherished.
